Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht + eng sub + exclusieve mini-docu

Tuesday 21 January

Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht (1979) is Werner Herzog's chilling reinterpretation of the iconic silent film from 1922, which breathes new life into the Dracula myth with haunting intensity. Klaus Kinski’s portrayal of Count Nosferatu is both disturbing and mesmerizing. Not only does Werner Herzog's Nosferatu turn 45 this year, but January also sees the release of Robert Eggers' (The Lighthouse) new version, which is already receiving rave reviews.

Prior to the screening, we will show an exclusive mini-documentary, A Symphony of Fear and Misunderstanding (1979). This unique production by Filmhuis Lumen includes contributions from the Filmhuis to Herzog’s shoot, opposition from the Municipality of Delft, behind-the-scenes glimpses of Werner Herzog’s filming process, and even an appearance by a young Maarten ‘t Hart (recently awarded the PC Hooft Prize).
