Delft Blue Cow
Artist Rob Brandt created this artwork from glazed pottery and it was given a place at Beestenmarkt in 1993.
The ‘Delft Cow’ is actually a bull and is a reminder of the days when cattle markets were still held on this site, from 1595 to 1972. The animal is painted red, blue and yellow. The cow stands on silver coloured thimbles on a high pedestal decorated with black and white patches, which refer to the colours of our typical Frisian cow.
