Water Management: The Municipality is responsible for the sewage system, for collecting rain run-off and wastewater, and for measures reducing groundwater problems in the public space.

The Delft City Hall is integrated with the new train station. One of the responsibilities of the city of Delft is water management, such as managing rainwater run-off and preventing local flooding. In the past, the priority was to get rid of rainwater as quickly as possible, for instance through the street sewer system. Nowadays, the priority is to capture and store rainwater locally as much as possible. This helps to reduce large peaks in the rainwater flowing through the sewers to the wastewater treatment plant at the Harnaschpolder. This wastewater treatment plant is operated by the local Water Board (Hoogheemraadschap van) of Delfland. The city of Delft also invests in various measures to manage the groundwater in the city, preventing problems in the public space by high groundwater levels.
